When I was a child, let’s say 20 years ago, I remember that it was normal to see walls with broken glass on their top part. It was made by farmers to protect themselves from people jumping the wall and breaking into their houses to rob them and steal their crops. I forgot completely about it since last Sunday, when I saw a wall like those in a neighbourhood in the outskirts of Barcelona. They are not used anymore and it was practice more extended in the country side than in the city, but apparently some houses in Barcelona didn’t remove them.
Update: a friend of mine from Sri Lanka told me that he saw walls like that in his country about 20 years ago (not sure if he could find them anymore)
